Job Summary

We are hiring for an Electrical Engineer 3.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work as lead design engineer on high voltage, medium voltage and distribution voltage substation projects.

  • Design battery buildings and substation control buildings for utilities. Design indoor switchgear scheme, feeder protection, control and metering schemes.

  • Take lead role in providing overall project planning, coordination and supervision of design activities to ensure compliance with plans and specifications.

  • Create protection & control schemes, control house design, raceway design, and physical and installation layout designs.

  • Understand relay logics and prepare control schematics. Prepare engineering bill of materials (BOM) for substation design.

  • Perform alternating current (AC) and direct current (DC) study, voltage drop calculation for cable sizing, and conduit sizing.

  • Design station outdoor drawings including conduit and grounding plans.

  • Work on MPAC (modular protection & automation control) buildings for substations.

  • Review project deliverable for quality control.

  • Procure equipment from approved vendors, manage timeline for the delivery of the equipment with construction sequence, and act as a liaison to interface between client, vendors and internal design team.

  • Generate cost estimates and proposals, man-hour budgets, schedules, procurement, and provide construction support.

  • Administer the budget for projects, designers, and CAD operators to complete substation design projects.

  • Understand station automation and IT requirements and co-ordinate with the client on Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) schemes.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or closely related field and 2 years of related experience.

  • Must have experience designing low voltage to high voltage systems.

  • Must have experience with outdoor and indoor substation design.

  • Must have experience working with AUTOCAD and MATHCAD.

  • Must have experience working on Breaker and a half (BAAH), Radial, Ring, and Double Breaker-Double Bus (DBDB) schemes.

  • Must have experience working on SEL and GE relays.

  • Must have good written and verbal communications skills in English.
